Broadcasting

Motiongrafik is involved in BBC broadcasting.

Every week, Motiongrafik's Katie Thompson indulges in some light banter with BBC Radio Devon breakfast jock Gordon Sparks every Friday morning, telling the good people of Plymouth the best entertainment highlights.

This work sets us up nicely for podcasting duties - and we are well versed in creating and distributing podcasts.

We also run broadcasting workshops for children and young people - using professionals from the broadcast industry.

Click here to listen to the result of our Brilliant Broadcasters radio project we did with local primary schools.

Ask us to help in your broadcasting/podcasting project and we'll get involved.

Our Projects

Motiongrafik doesn't just do other people's bidding.

We're creative catalysts as well as media lackeys and we're determined to put our digital money where our artistic mouth is.

We're currently involved in a trio of projects in our home city of Plymouth.

1. Motionplymouth
This is a festival of light installations and moving image planned for mid-November 2006, to tie-in with the city's Christmas lights turn-on.

We're determined to prove that Plymouth isn't an artistic backwater, and we're aiming for a brief but beautiful event that will slot into the city's calendar.
See more at the website www.motionplymouth.com

2. Project P
This is under wraps at the moment, but it involves a bit of didital, a bit of community, some archive gubbins and a whole heap of creativity. We'll keep you posted.

3. Artplymouth
Look out for our online art shop, opening later this year. Get ready to rustle the readies!

As you can see, we're not about sitting on our laurels and doing the easy stuff.
If you want to talk to us about our projects - or about doing some projects for you - get in touch by emailing creatives@motiongrafik.com

History

Motiongrafik started life as a panoramic imagery and interactive media company in November 2000 - right as the dot-com bubble burst.

Nearly six years later, we're still here - and growing all the time.

Over the years, we've worked for a variety of clients in and around Plymouth and in London too.
Motiongrafik is run by Dawn Melville and Katie Thompson.

By the way, we still sell pano images. You can buy them from the Evening Herald shop in Plymouth. Call 01752 765500 to contact the store.

What We Do

Motiongrafik is a creative agency powered with the creative urge.

We cover a lot of ground, in the realm of media old and new.

The work we carry out includes:

We're keen to help on your media project, so if you've got any questions, ask us and we'll be interested.

Imagery

Motiongrafik started life as a new media company specialising in high-quality, high resolution panoramic images.

We offer these images for use on a one-off or multiple use basis.

It costs £50+VAT for a single use (not for resale) and £175+VAT for multiple uses (not for resale). If you are to use our imagery, we ask you to credit us too.

Call us to discuss buying our panoramic images: 01752 668761

We have also diversified and can supply a range of photographers for all your needs:

We took these iconic photographs of The Hoe, which are for sale in Plymouth at The Herald Shop in Armada Way or from us directly (dreckly, in local language).

To enquire about purchasing these images, email imagery@motiongrafik.com

Events

We like to go the extra mile and do a bit of event-organisation. Just because we can and because we believe that our working life should be as creative as possible.

We've just completed the Network of Women 2007 Gala Dinner, where we were responsible for making the event a memorable and atmospheric night.

Our service included:

· Brainstorming and ideas generation
· Drawing up of an extensive project plan and schedule
· Collaboration with the hotel venue
· Décor details and giant Oscars to ensure an atmosphere of glamour and celebration
· Devising an appropriate music policy for the night and booking the acts
· The ordering of suitable flowers for the tables
· A Motiongrafik photographer making the guests the ‘celebrities’ for the night
· Slideshow and screen content production
· Script assistance and editing
· Nominee interviews
· Video pre-production and production
· Rehearsals
· Event management and support on the day

We worked to a tight budget, keeping in regular contact with our client to calm their fears, share ideas and rehearse.

After the event, we received the following feedback:
"The event looked better, felt better and was incredibly well-managed"
- one happy NoW Gala Dinner guest

We like to generate our own events too. Below is a run-down of our regular efforts, and do get in touch if you want to hire in our original event expertise.

Motionplymouth logo
Motionplymouth: This is our flagship event - a moving image festival for Plymouth, involving outdoor projections, film-shows, digital trickery, a glitzy Movie Star Reception and much more.

The festival has its own website over here: www.motionplymouth.com

Last Friday logo
Last Friday: Monthly bar-type social networking session and creative knees-up, with music, decor, conversation, projections and creative chemistry.

For the past five years we have been downing a few jars, talking creatively and making friends. We call this event Last Friday, and it is due to take place from September in the b-bar of the Barbican Theatre in Plymouth's historic quarter.

While you chat and get creative, you will also be able to enjoy

Last Friday takes place (you guessed it) on the last Friday every month from 6pm-8pm.

If you want to join in, email letmejoinin@lastfriday.org to get yourself on the regular email-list or visit www.lastfriday.org to find out more.

Also....

Plymouth Respect Festival DVD

We created a DVD for the Plymouth and District Racial Equality Council, raising its profile and enabling it to ask for increased sponsorship.

The DVD documented 2005's Plymouth Respect Festival, with a short trailer, background movies and photo slideshows.

The DVD led to an official launch, where new partners were able to see for themselves the benefits of working with Plymouth Respect Festival.

It is hoped that the DVD will be officially handed over to the South West Film and Television Archive in the near future.

The Arrow Project

Motiongrafik's Dawn Melville is project managing the amazing ARROW project.

This stands for Arts: A Resource for Reconciliation Over the World.

It is based at The College of St Mark and St John in Derriford, Plymouth, UK, yet is linking to creative clusters of young people in Burnley, Kosovo, Israel, Palestine, South Africa and beyond.

The climax to ARROW's existence has to be the recent official opening of the Desmond Tutu Centre at Marjon - the new headquarters and hub of the ARROW project.

This project has an international profile that Motiongrafik is proud to uphold.

Visit the ARROW website here:
ARROW - Art as a Resource for Reconciliation Over the World

The story of the Desmond Tutu Centre's opening has been covered by the BBC, ITV and The Herald.

Design

As our name suggests, we carry out design assignments for our clients.

We like to give a holistic service, and design often comes into our projects.

We've designed logos, printed matter and stationery, websites and interfaces. See some examples below:

The Plymouth and District Racial Equality Council logo
We created a logo and branding for this organisation, transforming its tired look into a contemporary one.

South Asian Society newsletter
We worked on this annual newsletter for Devon and Cornwall's large South Asian community

Creative Entrepreneurs
We created the branding for this initiative to get artists thinking commercially. We also created the database-driven site that the branding was used all over.

Contact us to discuss your design projects.
